In solid state chapter, we study closed packed structure in which one part is close packing in three dimensions in which first part is three dimensional close packing from two dimensional square close-packed layers. So my doubt is that we arrange second layerexactly over the first layer and get AAA....type pattern but why we don`t discuss that what will happen if first layer and second layer both individuallyremain in two dimension square close packing but we arrange second in the depressions of the first on i.e. ABAB....type pattern rather than arranging second layer exact over the first layer ????
