In a gravimetric determination of phosphorus and aqueous solution of dihydrogen phosphate ion is treated with the mixture of ammonium and magnesium ions to precipitate magnesium Ammonium Phosphate. this is heated and decompose to magnesium pyrophosphate which is weighed. Solution of h2po4 yielded 1.054 gram of Mg2P2O7 what weight of NaH2 PO 4 was originally present?

NaH2PO4 ------» Mg2P2O7
Applying POAC on P atom, we get
2 x wt. Of Mg2P2O7/ molar mass of Mg2P2O7 =
Wt. Of NaH2PO4/ molar mass of NaH2PO4
=» 2 x 1.054/222 = wt. Of NaH2PO4/ 120
=» wt. Of NaH2PO4 = 1.14g
So, ans. Is 1.14g
