,4- dichlorobutane when reacting with ethanolic NaCN gives NC-(CH2)4- CN and again this reactinginpresence of H2/Nigives the final producthexan1,6 diamine

I think this should be the process...  
Cl-(CH2)4-Cl + alc. KCN -> CN-(CH2) 4-CN + H2 / Ni -> NH2-i(CH2)-NH2
