cathode rays doesnot depend on the nature of gas, Cathode rays are nothing but beam of electrons, all the electrons are identical irrelevant to the gas from which they originate..
So the charge to mass ratio of electrons (e/m) don't depend on the nature of gas in cathode ray tube.
Where as anode rays(canal rays) are composed of ionised nuclei which vary from gas to gas in terms of atomic number and mass number.
