Metals are lusterous, ductile , malleable , sonorous , high melting point ,solid at room temperature, good conductor of heat and electricity . Exceptions - mercury which is liquid at room temperature , pottasium ,sodium and calcium do not have high melting point.
where as non-metals do not posses such charecteristics they are solid but brittle low melting point ,not sonorous , not lusterous, not ductile ,not malieable that conductors of heat and electricity . Exceptions- bromine is a liquid , graphite is a good conductor of heat and electricity...
