1) The property of system whose magnitude depends upon the amount or quantity of the matter present in the system, is called as extensive property. The extensive properties are additive. FOR EXAMPLE :Mass, volume, area, energy enthalpy, work, force, area, entropy etc. 2) The property of the system whose magnitude does not depends on amount or quantity of the matter present in the system is called as `intensive property `.Intensive properties are not additive. FOR EXAMPLE : boiling point, melting point, density, temperature, pressure,, refractive index etc.
