As both the molecule is neutral. Therefore the sum of the oxidation state of each atom is equal to zero. here oxidation state of oxygen =-2 potassium =+1 hydrogen= +1 for K2MnO4 2*(1) +x +4*(-2)=0 x=+6 (oxidation state for manganese) for HNO3 +1 +X +2(-3)=0 X=+5(nitrogen)
