An impure sample of CaCO 3 that has moist clay as impurity on heating loses 14.5% of its weight of water. 5 Gm of the sample shows a loss in weight by 1.507 gm. Calculate the percentage of CaCO 3 in the sample.

The reaction of CaCo3 with water in presence of heat will give CaOH2 and co2.Since the loss in weight is equal to 1.507g.Due to this we have to balance the number of moles in this reaction .This gives that there is 0.3665g amount of waer in the mixture. So the weight if Caco3 is equal to 4.7635g. This gives its percentage to be  93.4%.
