alkyl halides have higher boiling point than alkanes ?

Alkyl halides are polar in nature due to presence of polar halogen atoms. On the other hand alkanes are non polar compounds. In case of alkyl halides there is greater electrostatic attraction among the molecules which increases their boiling point as compare to alkanes.
