Towards the plate.Since the charge on the metal conductor is distributed in two oppositely charged halves due to the influence of the large metal plate charge , so the plate attracts the negative half of the metallic particle facing towards the plate.

It should be 0 as it is said a particle...not  a sphere so there can't possible be any polarizations as a particle does not have any dimensional... So due to 0 net charge  and no polarization the force experienced is 0
