the elements in the modren periodic table are classified on the basis of the chemical properties where the properties are like in the aame group so that we can observe that the elements are are arranged in the vertical row know as group ss.

The examples are

1)the noble gas elements which are having octet configuration are arranged according to their chemical properties also..

2)the halogen family and chalcogen family .also arranged in according to their chemical properties
