Q. 15 What is the minimum concentration of SO42- required to precipitate BaSO4 in a solution containing
1.0 × 10-4 mole of Ba2+ ? Ksp for BaSO4 = 4 × 10-10.
4 × 10-10 M
2 × 10-7 M
4 × 10-6 M
2 × 10-3 M

BaSO4 dissociates according to the following equation:

BaSO4---Ba2+ +SO42-.

as the concentration of barium ion is given, using the relation Ksp= [Ba2+]*[SO42-] we can find the concentration of SO42-

Hence the answer is 4*10-10/1*10-4=4*10-6
