C2O42- can be oxidised to CO2 by MnO4- in acidic as well as basic medium. What is ratio of mole of MnO4- used per mole of C2O42- ??

C2O42-                     ---> 2CO2  + 2e-                           (a)

Mno4- + 8H+  + 5e-    ---> Mn2+  + 4H2O                 (b)

---------------------------------------------------------------------

multiply 5 times A and 2 times B gives

5 C2O42-    +  2 Mno4-     + 16 H+             ---> 10 CO2  + 2 Mn2+  + 8 H2O

2 moles of MnO4 - per 5 moles of C2O4 2-
