Hello Student

Each and every matter around us is made up of charge particles. Positively charged protons and negatively charged electrons.
Atoms have equal number of protons and electrons so the net charge is zero. Atoms combine to form compound. They do so by either transfer of electrons or by their sharing. The attractive force thus generated are called chemical bonds.
When a chemical bond breaks heterolytically, one of the components becomes positively charged while the other part becomes negatively charged.
