to decrease concentration of substance in a mixture by forming complex with either one.

Depressants are used to separate two mixed sulphide ores. It selectively prevents one of the ore from coming to froth and allows other.

If there are two types of sulphide ores in a mixture then it is separated by adjusting proportion of oil to water or by depressant.
