what is the difference brtween amphoteric and amphiprotic substances

Amphoteric substances are those which react with both acid & base to form salt & water, while amphiprotic substances are those which can donate or accept a proton in other words they can act as both acids and bases according to bronsted lowry concept .All amphiprotic substances contain a hydrogen atom while amphoteric substances do not.Amphoteric substances are usually oxides or hydroxides

examples of amphoteric substances-ZnO,PbO,Al2O3 ETC

EXAMPLES OF AMPHIPROTIC SUBSTANCES-H2O,AMINO ACIDS ETC
