Since, the metal carbonate and metal oxide are involved in the same reaction, the ratio of their molecular weight will be equal to the ratio of their equivalent weight.

Weight of metallic oxide
Weight of metal carbonate

 =
eq. mass of metal + eq. mass of O
2−

eq. mass of metal + eq. mass of CO
3
2−

Therefore,
1.5
2

  =
x+8
x+30

 .

On solving, we get x = 58.
