A human heart discharges 75 mL of blood at each beat against a pressure at 0.1 mm of Hg. Calculate the power of the heart assuming that the pulse frequency is 80 beats/min. Given density of mercury = 13.6 * 10000 kg m-3.

Power= Pressure x Vol of blood/ time
= 13600 x 9.8 x 0.1 x (80 x80 x 10⁻⁶)/60
=1.421 W
