Predict the number of unpaired electrons, the spin (high or low) and the spin-only magnetic moment at 25 degrees celcius for each of the following. [Fe(CN)6]4- [Cr(NH3)6]2+
Amongst the following ions, which one has the highest magnetic moment value? [Cr(H2O)6]3+ [Fe(H2O)6]2+

Dear student

Please ask only one question in one threqd.

2.)

Magnetic moment (μ) = √n (n + 2), where n = no. of unpaired electrons.
The no. of unpaired electrons in [Cr(H₂O)₆]³⁺ = 3. So, the magnetic moment = √3 (3 + 2) = √15
The no. of unpaired electrons in [Fe(H₂O)₆]²⁺ = 4. So, the magnetic moment = √2 (4 + 2) = √24

Therefore, the highest magnetic moment is present for the ion [Fe(H₂O)₆]²⁺.
