Why ch3ch2och3 does not show metamerismand ch3ch2ch2och3 show metamerism?

Hello Student,

This type ofisomerismis due to the unequal distribution of carbon atoms on either side of functional group. Eg Ether.

In CH3CH2OCH3 theunequal distribution of carbon atoms on either side will give same IUPAC name. But in CH3CH2CH20CH3 (methoxypropane)theunequal distribution of carbon atoms will give CH3CH2OCH2CH3 (ethoxyethane) which has different IUPAC name.
