What are these NON IIT institutes? Have heard that these colleges take admission through JEE Advance? If I fall short to make in IITs ranking, Is it advisable to take admission in such colleges like IIST?

Yes you can take admission in NITs, BITS, IIIT. These are also nice colleges in INDIA.

Are core branches(Mechanical) in Top 3 NIT worth it ?

My rank in JEE Advanced 2022 is 1871. Should I go for IIT Guwahati ECE or IIT Kanpur Mechanical and try for a branch change to CS or Electrical Engineering? Is changing your branch very difficult?
