Is it mandatory to take notes while reading from the books on own? If yes how to take notes?

1- start reading the textbooks with something to underline in it.

2- mark the points you think are important or that which you think you are going to forget.

3- keep a seperate notebook and write down these points. it will come in handy for a quick revision later.

Are core branches(Mechanical) in Top 3 NIT worth it ?

My rank in JEE Advanced 2022 is 1871. Should I go for IIT Guwahati ECE or IIT Kanpur Mechanical and try for a branch change to CS or Electrical Engineering? Is changing your branch very difficult?
