How to practice problems while preparing for IIT JEE or other engineering exams ? Need some Tips..

In IIT JEE, most of the questions asked are numerical based. To learn how to solve them quickly and accurately, students need to focus right from the first day they do practice problems. As a beginner, they should read a chapter and attempt problems related to it. If they don’t understand a question for 5 minutes, refer to their solutions immediately. If they have some idea, they may try for about 20 minutes and then refer to the solution to see how they could have solved it better. Mark problems as ‘Easy’ if you can solve a question yourself in less than 5 minutes, ‘Average’ if you could solve it yourself by trying harder, ‘Difficult’ if you had to focus on each step of solution to understand it and ‘Very Difficult’ if you could not understand a problem and its solution at all. Try to understand tips, tricks and ideas used to solve a question correctly. Take tests where you should be able to solve about 60 average and difficult questions in 25 minutes. When you are taking a test, focus on making ‘zero’ mistakes. Revise practice problems by glancing at them after every few days and trying to recall concepts and steps used to solve them. This should improve your problem solving ability and help you retain things better.
