how to calculate the charge distribution in conductor when another charge is kept closer

It is simple.
Depending upon the sign and magnitude of the charge kept closer, an equal and opposite charge would develop on the side nearer to the outside charge( due to induction).
As charge is conserved, on the other side( away from the side nearer to the outside charge) a charge gets induced such that the net charge on the conductor remains constant.
