mechanism is very important part of any reaction.Its important further increases if u r prepearing for exam like IIT JEE.

you will not see very straight forward question,they generally change the position of functional group from the standard one,which you can explian without knowing the mechanism of a reaction.

but if in the question mechanism is not asked so you need not explined through mechanism ,you just write the final product.
