Is there any relation b/w gravitation and magnetic field ?

As far as I know, magnetic fields and gravitational fields are separate phenomena - they have no interrelation and do not interact with each other.

Gravity is a fundamental force, which acts between any two (or more) pieces of matter, drawing them together. It tends only to be significant when no other forces are in play, or when considering large agglomerates of matter - such as planets.

One way of explaining how gravity works to consider the following model: Take a sheet of fabric, and stretch it out tightly. This represents the fabric of space. Now, place a marble (the marble represents matter) on that sheet and you will see the marble creates a localized depression in the sheet. If you place another marble nearby, they will tend to move towards each other, creating a bigger depression. This is akin to how gravity operates - and perhaps why it does. Matter may deform the very fabric of space, causing gravity.


Magnetism, on the other hand, works very differently. A magnetic field is caused by the alignment of, or the motion of, charged particles. In the case of a conventional magnet, it is the alignment of magnetic dipoles within a piece of steel. In the case of a earth, the magnetic field is due to the movement of molten material under the earth''s crust.


Magnetic forces do not, like gravity, operate on all matter regardless of type. The effect of a magnetic field on an object is dependent upon the nature of the material from which the object is made. Fundamentally, however, the magnetic fields are caused by the spin of sub-atomic particles, which as an aggregate, produce a dipolar force field which we know as a magnetic field.


Anti-gravity, as a force on it''s own, has not been proven to exist, and there is little basis for believing that it does.
