I joined a very well ranked IIT integrated college in 2011. Then when i joined i didnt even what IIT stood for. THere was an entrance test for the college and i passed the test.
Right from day 1 everything went horrible as the teaching was fast. We werent even given any books for refernce until late and refernce book given were the arihant IIT series. I mean hw can u go for IIT without knowing basics like NCERT
Topics like Rotational Dynamics was scrwd and Ionic eq. and the whole of IIT level Integration was taught in 4 days bcoz it was gettin late. They were over 5 different teachers for each subject over the 2 years
When they saw that good results were few, they conducted a test to select the top among the many and diverted all the gud teachers toward them and left us with lousy teachers. I mean we pay the same fees why do we deserve that?
My seniors had a great and consistent staff who left with the seniors batch and despite that many of my seniors had opted for distance learning prog by the time i knew abt it it was too late to subscribe
And what surprised me the most is in my batch some smart asses got gud results despite the teachers being bad. I too would try to study on my own but they was always the lack of time.
SOme say they had gone to FIITJEE or BASE in 9th and 10th hence finding it easy..IS it true?
they wud always understand bfore others and and the stupid teachers wud jus go ahead without seeing if everyone understood
eventually i began to understand the subjects as but there was always a backlag of what i hadnt understood.
My question is---- Is this same plight in all IIT coaching institutes?
BUT HERES MY REALLY QUERY
i qualified the MAINS but am not happy with the score of 170 and 95% in my state boards
So i want try again in 2014 while balancing ENGINEERING in some other college
So what should i try to focus on and how much time shud i devote now that i m aware of all topics
And here is my major problem
I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN GOOD AT MATH EVEN IN MY 10TH CBSE AND EVEN IN 11TH I COULD UNDERSTAND NCERT MATH BOOKS WITH EASE
BUT WHEN I OPEN ARIHANT SERIES BY SK GOYAL OR AMIT AGARWAL CHAPTERS LIKE SEQUENCES,THEORY OF EQUATIONS,PERMUTATIONS AND COMB,BINOMIAL THEOREM AND FUNCTIONS EVERYTHING SEEMS SO HIGH LEVEL LIKE ITS OUT OF BOUNDS. ESPECIALLY FUNCTIONS THERE WAS A TEACHER WHO TAUGHT THE SIMPLEST THINGS IN DIFFICULT MANNER JUS BCOZ HE KNEW ANS MADE ME WONDER IS IIT MATHS SO ESOTERIC I MEAN I SAT FOR HOURS ON QUESTIONS LIKE
F(X+1)+ 2F(X+2)=F(X) F(0)=1 F(1)=3 FIND F(X) ITS NOT A REAL PROB I M JUS STATING AN EXAMPLE
ANOTHER MAJOR SHOCKER WHEN I TRIED TAKING TEST IN THE LAST WEEKS BEFORE JEE MAIN(AIEEE) I NOTICED I WAS SLOW AND COULDNT COMPLETE IT.. BUT WITH BOARD PAPERS I AM ABLE TO ACE IT.
IS IT THAT I AM RETARDED 
AND NOT FIT FOR AIEEE AND IITJEE OR IS IT THAT I HAVE LET MYSELF INTO THINKING I AM SLOW
FOR EG IF I AM WORKING ON A PROBLEM I CHECK THE CALCULATION AGAIN AND AGAIN OR I KEEP THINKING INSTEAD OF PUTTING IT ON PAPER.
I HAVE MANAGED TO MAKE MYSELF STRONG IN PHYSICS YET SLOW IN SOLVING.I LOVE PHYSICS AND HENCE CAN SOLVE MOST OF THE DC PANDEY PROBS EVEN THOUGH I MIGHT BE SLOW BUT AGAIN EMPHASIS ON MATH IF I CAN UNDERSTAND NCERT THEN WHY CANT I DO SO IN ARIHANT SERIES?
MANY OF MY FRIENDS HAVE PERFORMED BELOW PAR THIS YEAR FROM THE INSTITUTE AND GIVEN UP. BUT THERE IS THIS BURNING DESIRE FOR GOOD RANK IN AIEEE AND IIT. I FEEL LIKE ALL MY HOURS IN THE 2 YEARS HAVE BEEN WASTED AND I HAVE FAILED MAINLY BCOZ OF LACK OF GUIDANCE AND MY IGNORANCE IN SEEKING GUIDANCE FROM FORUMS LIKE ASKIITIANS
SO CAN ANY ONE please please please please SUGGEST HOW I CAN WORK OVER THE NEXT YEAR FOR 2014 MAINS AND ADV.
ESPECIALLY IN MATH FOR IITJEE AND HOW I CAN IMPROVE ON SPEED AND ACCURACY FOR AIEEE.
I BORROWED A LOT OF FIITJEE PHASE TEST PAPERS AND AITS BUT COULDNT FIND TIME TO SOLVE AS THE COLLEGE NEVER MANAGED TO COMPLETE PORTIONS AND WHEN THEY DID IN A HURRY IT WAS OF NO USE AS I HAD TO STUDY ALL OVER AGAIN. THERE WERE SOME AMAZING TEACHERS BUT MOST OF THEM WERE NOT GOOD AS THEY COULD NOT SPEAK PROPER ENGLISH. WHATS THE USE OF GOIN TO COLL IF I HAV TO STUDY ALL OVR AGAIN.
SO CAN ANY ONE please please please please SUGGEST HOW I CAN WORK OVER THE NEXT YEAR FOR 2014 MAINS AND ADV ESP MATH AND BUILDING ON SPEED .
