Why we are taking modulus sign for finding mean-deviation about mean since mean-deviation about mean is zero.

You are in misconception that mean-deviation about mean is zero. It comes out to be zero if normally calculate it without modulu, as the positeve and negetive terms cancel each other. So to prevent such cancellation we use modulus.
