it has been a while, and i have been thinking on this issue almost everyday. i dont understand why girls are not able to crack the entrance examinations like the iitjee?

what is the reason behind this problem? due to this problem, girls like me feel discouraged and almost lose our hope of cracking this prestigious exam. we are even neglected at our tuitions due to this reason, because the teachers feek that we are not capable of cracking this exam.

please help. please guide us as to how we should study and where are we lagging behind.

In one website, I read that when it comes to AVERAGE intelligence, there is almost no difference between men and women, but men are overrepresented at EXTREMES, BOTH VERY HIGH AND VERY LOW. This perhaps explains why girls always do better at board exams, but boys do better at IITJEE and olympiads. In my opinion, girls should reduce the time they spend on board exam preparation and devote the extra time for IITJEE and olympiads.

there is no need at all to feel discouraged. there are a lot of girls at IIT and although the ratio is very less there are a number of reasons behind it.

the first being the mentality of the parents. they never want to let their daughters away from them as they feel that would be hampering in the future. no doubt this mediocre thinking but not every parent is from well developed places like delhi or calcuttathere are still students from all over india. hence the lessening ratio.

and 2nd reason is the mentality of the society. most of any persons relatives say 4 a boy that its good if he is studying for iit but will say that that what wud a girl do with engineering.

althougth this mentality is changing since u do feel such a thing i guess u dont have such supportive people around u.

hwr it is important that u dont loose hope and crack jee so that some day u can encourage some1 else.

i am doing all that i can to change the mentality of the people.
