why C2 doesnt exist ???

delta bonding(quadruple bonding) is sumthing that requires d orbital participation, carbon doesnot have d orbitals, so c2 does not form

remember, here MOT fails miserably because upon calculation ull find that the bond order of C2 comes out to be2.5, hence it should exist, but it does not..
