Its hard to answer, nyways i'm giving my siggestions

As per the college NIT surathkal is any way the best one and u definitely get gud placement.

But as far is dept. is considered , its your interest to take.

civil jobs are mostly fileds of construction etc.

Mining jobs are in fileds of drilling,coal/metal mining; here you have chances to go in mining and petroleum companies which are obviously highly paid than civil companies.

As per as placement is considered, u can definitely get a job in Coal India,NMDC or some petroleum countries as thr is scarcity of mining engineers globally.

Here both depts. are to do field jobs.

Note: I'm just giving an idea of the future in these 2 fields.
