BITS is a very good college..................IIT's and BITS are far ahead of other eng colleges in India .......

BITS cant be underestimated in comparision to the IIT's......infrastructure and funding lag a bit behind in comparision to IIT's.

One need not wonder why it is above IIT R just because it is an IIT.

In the ranking procedure of eng colleges, many factors like studentquality,infrastructure,placements,etc are taken into consideration..........

Rankings are just an indication of the college standards, and there are a number of things taken into account, while ranking a college like the admission process, infrastructure, personality development, placements etc.. But never determine a college purely based on its rank!!! Just to mention a fact, 3 years ago, the highest package was given neither to an IITIAN nor a BITSIAN nor an NITIAN, it was offered to a student from a local engineering college in Bangalore!!! So, if u r a good student, any college is the same.,.,..the only reason why IIT/BITS are preffered over others are because of its name and fame and the campus life,...and mind u BITS is no less than an IIT. Its a provate college alrite, yet it is excellent by standards,....dont worry much abt the rankings...just focus on ur career :)
