Grade Upto college levelDiscuss with colleagues and IITians

Hello sir,

I'm a 2nd yr Computer Science BTech student in IIT Delhi.I was thinking about joining IAS after completing my BTech. How reasonable is my decision given that most of my friends plan to do MBA after BTech?

Also,I'll have to face many difficulties on this path as CS is not a subject for IAS exams & my branch's curriculum is supposed to be the toughest here. So,I'm having problems in chosing my subjects for optionals & in deciding how should I prepare side-by-side for IAS given the tough curriculum followed here at IITD.Would dropping a year after BTech for IAS preparation be a logical decision(I won't like to do that!)?

Pl. enlighten me as I am very much concerned about my future & I want to start preparing at the earliest for whatever I do!

Thnx in advance!!!

Dear Pulkit Yadav,

Your aim to become an IAS officer to serve our Nation is commendable !!

But to do preparation for UPSC Examination while doing B.Tech is not a good thing you see...

IAS Examination requires total submission of one's mind, body, hear & soul towards Hard work & Determination !!!

Infact you have to repeat your JEE Preparation one more time !!!

So now you know the toughness you are more likely to face(i guess) !!

Moreover IAS Examination doesn't have a specific portion as IIT-JEE has so this adds to your worries !!!

For more information on the IAS Examination please visit the following link given below

Hope this helped you immensely !!!

Hello Pulkit

Dont decide your career based on your friends' decisions.

Yes cs is toughest there but you have many benefits also for being in cs too

Since IAS exam now conducts test in Aptitude and GK so dont worry about the subjects now

also you are in second year so concentrate more on your courses but side by side read newspapers, sources for current and some pat knowledge. you will get lots of stuff on IAS from your LAN

also keep solving aptitude books which will help you in courses too like puzzles and all
