I have done MSc. in computers from pune university. After that i joined IT. Now i have 5+ years experience in Java/J2EE..i am working as a Senior Software Engineer in enterprise application area. I have following queries regarding MTech:1) Will at this stage doing MTech will be of any use ?2) I think MTech is towards systems and research. What kind of job profile i can expect after MTech?3) I will be spending 2 years of time for MTech means in these 2 years i will have to sacrifies for years income. Is it really worth? What package/role i can expect after completing MTech.4) For which companies i can apply after MTech. (sepcially in pune)?

Dear Mr. Sandeep,

As you have 5 year experience in software field , there is no need to do M.tech from IIT.

and mostly this is not a good time to go for M.Tech ,  with the economic turmoil , its hard to get a better job profile than the one which you are already enjoying in.

This year wat i have seen in placements for M.Techs in  IITs is,

1) people have gone for companies like samsung software,oracle,ICFAI institute.....

which i feel does not carry more weight than what you are in at now.

I would suggest to do MBA from ny IIMS or go for Ph.Ds abroad

Thanks Naga for ur comments. I agree that IT market is not good now but i think it will be better 2 years down the line (when i will comlete My MTech.). I want to stay in technical field so i am not thinking of MBA..

Can you please throw some light on PHd.
