Grade Upto college levelDiscuss with colleagues and IITians

i am the student of BITS Pilani chemical engg.....this tym i appeared in JEE and expectin to get 280 marks.....so what are your views regarding rank prediction and till what rank i should leave BITS P for IIT....means in ur view which branches in IIT are better than chem engg in BITS P.....and the one main thing is that i am keen desirous for IIT D.....should i prefer college over branch..???

Hi !!

With 280 marks, acording to

Expected IIT JEE 2011 cut-offs

your rank would be between 1000-2000. And you do have chances of getting into IIT Delhi and Bombay. If you get a branch that is better and more in demand than Chemical Engineering, then switching to an IIT definitely makes sense.

 

However, if you get through a course that carries less weight than chemical engineering, then think again. You would have the IIT tag, but the course may not help you in far in life. If you plan to study further ( may be management), then your branch would be of no relevance. But if you want to do an MS, or work after graduation then you should be in a branch that has a good scope.
