whats the average and the highest package of mech. engineers in merchant navy?? what are the major risks involved in this career?

Merchant navy is very high paid job. you can earn 1-5 lacs per month. depending on the experience.  but people get bored in it. as you have to be on the ship continuously for 5-6 months. you will be away from home. Also in some regions like Somalia there is always a possibility of attack. these are Pirates zone. so risk is there, but money is also there :)....so you decide what you want.
