i am an mpc student qualified in iit 2010 is it necessary that to opt for biotechnology one must have biology or life sciences as one of the subjects in +2 plaese answer me

No, it isn't compulsory. Moreover Biotech branch isn't based on Biology. It's somewhat different course and also you will get a material from IIT in which you get your counciling details. There will be a booklet which contains detailed description of every branch. Your doubt will be clear from that.
