You get more remuneration in mechanical engg and there are lots of opportunites too.

petroleum engg has got limited job offers as of now. Once you do specialisation in mech, your pay package enhances exponentially.

Salary package for mechanical engineer is around 7-8 lakhs per annum and for petroleum engg its about 6-7 lakhs per annum if you pursue from a reputed college.
