Dear Siddhart,

As It seems that you are bit confused among IIT's and IIST, so let me advice you that , if you are ranked low in IIT's and if you do not get your desired branch then definately you can try for IIST.

However it totally depends on you that leaving IIT's and getting admission into IIST is profitable or not, because IIST technically serves only specific feld, while IIT's provide wide range of flexibility to their students.
