[sinx + cosx] = [\sqrt{2}sin(\frac{\pi}{4}+x)]
Now for x belongs to 0 to Pi/4 (=0.785) 
[\sqrt{2}sin(\frac{\pi}{4}+x)] = 1
LHS = 1
for x belongs to 0 to Pi/4 (=0.785) 
[-sinx] = -1
[-cosx] = -1
RHS = 3-1-1 = 1
Therefore for all values between 0 and 0.785 above expression is true.
Similarly we can check for remaining range
