Is there any Centre Of Symmetry (COS) in this molecule? (See image) I think there is a COS in between the two central carbon atoms. Please correct me if I am wrong.

HELLO THERE!

According to my knowledge, the compound is having Plane of symmetry, not centre of symmetry.

When you draw a line between the two central carbon atoms, one part of the compound is exactly the mirror image of the other. But, this is plane of symmetry. Generally we say that centre of symmetry is present, if such plane (which divides the compound into two halves and one half is the mirror image of the other) is passed through a point.

THANKS!
