Functions like respiration, digestion, protein synthesis etc are not performed by the organs. They are performed by the organelles in the cell. Each organelle has a specific function.

Cell is structural and functional unit of life. If you will not have cells you will not have tissues and similarly organs also. So everything starts from cell only.

A cell is the smallest unit of life that can replicate independently, and cells are often called the "building blocks of life". The study of cells is called cell biology. Cells consist of cytoplasm enclosed within a membrane, which contains many biomolecules such as proteins and nucleic acids.

cells have a very imp function in our body , even they are besic building blocks of organs , the organs cannot do all the mechanism of respiration , excretion and digestion etc , so, they should be charecterised by diff cells in the body .
they are present in every organi and also they require  certain energy to respire and live ,
