We have day and night because the Earth rotates. It spins on its axis, which is an imaginary line passing through the North and South Poles. The Earth spins slowly all the time, but we don't feel any movement because it turns smoothly and at the same speed.
AND IN the equinox phenomenon , the day and night is that of equal length ,
and it happens twice a year .

The earth is constantly spinning in its axis, allowing sunlight to shine on different areas of the earth at different times of the day, creating daytimes when the sun hits a specific area.whwn the sun is not shining on a specific area of earth, then it is night times.since the sun does not hit all of the earth at the same time,it is day time in some part of the world, while it is night time in other part of the world.

Rotation of earth on its axis which lets and blocks the path of sunlight and causes day and night after a definite interval of time
