An object of mass 40 kg is raised to a height of 5 m above the ground. What is its potential energy. If the object is allowed to fall, find its kinetic energy when it is half-way down.

Dear Student

Mass = 40 kg
h = 5m
P.E. _ ?[ g = 10 m/ s^2]
P.E. = mgh
= 40 × 10 × 5
P.E. = 2000J
When the object falls the potential energy gets transformed into kinetic energy. When the object is half way down
P.E. = will become half i . e. 2000/2 = 1000 J and P.E. = K.E.

Thanks
