How would you test the presence of starch in leaves?

Its simple. All you need to do is to boil the leaves in water to expand starch. Then boil the same leaves in alcohol to remove chlorophyll. Rinse it with cold water and add iodine solution over it. The presence of starch will make these iodine strains dark blue color.
