The Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT Ropar) is also known as Indian Institute of Technology Punjab (IIT Punjab). This is an engineering and technology of higher education. It is situated in Rupnagar, Punjab, India. IIT Ropar is one among those 8 new Indian Institutes of Technology that have been incorporated by the Ministry of Human Resource Development MHRD, Government of India under The Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act in the year 2011 that declares the conversion of Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University as well as the 8 IITs to IIT. In the Lok Sabha this Act was passed on 24th March 2011. It passed by the Rajya Sabha in the year 2012 on 30th April.
