Located at the cultural heritage state of India, Rajasthan IIT Jodhpur is the newly built IITs by the HRD ministry, Government of India under the Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 2011. Presently IIT Jodhpur functions from MBM Engineering College Campus in Jodhpur and have the plans to shift to the sprawling residential campus on 852 acres near the NH 65, northwest of Jodhpur towards Nagaur. IIT Jodhpur offers undergraduate programmes in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Biologically Inspired Systems Science and Electrical Engineering. All these divisions intake students on the basis of Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) scores. Ph.D and Postgraduate programmes are structured around Centres of Excellence (CoE) of the institute, the Centre of Excellence in Energy, in Information and Communication Technology, Biologically Inspired Systems Science and in Systems Science. The IIT Jodhpur also offers development and sponsored research programs in the areas of systems science technology for health care, liberal arts and social sciences, energy sectors, communication and information technology. Also the institute is planning for the alliances with French universities that will result in student and faculty exchange, internship in France and participation in joint research programs.
