Schools in the National Capital Region (NCR) of India may expect very high standards from parents and students while offering them admission in nursery, but they themselves are falling short at the highest average aggregate in the Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) Class XII examinations held in 2014. Only Heritage School of Gurgaon made it to the top eight schools whose average aggregate is 90% and above in English and best of four subjects in CBSE.

Even in terms of 50% students of a school scoring more than 90%, only eleven schools from NCR made it to the list. In this category, eight schools from Chennai, six from Bangalore, two from Kolkata and one from Mumbai also made it to the list. All India result analysis shows that in 46 schools, more than 50% students got a score of 90% and more.
Out of all the schools that participated, 711 schools had 50% of students scoring 80% and above in the CBSE Class XII examinations. Notable is the fact that even in this category NCR is not in the top three. All students, i.e. 100%, of BVB Prism School in Mankahari, Satna, Madhya Pradesh and Kendriya Vidyalaya, Jalgaon, Maharashtra scored 80% and above and in Jawahar Navodaya, Chickmagalur, Karnataka, 97.6% students scored 80% and above.
