*Raghuram Rajan is the 23rd Governor of the RBI who will serve a three year term in the ministry.

*Raghuram Rajan was serving as the Chief Economic Adviser to the Finance Ministry before he was appointed as the 23rd governor of the RBI.

*From September 2003 to January 2007, Raghuram Rajan was appointed as the Economic Counselor and Director of Research at the International monetary.

*Raghuram Rajan rose to fame after his prediction of the 2008 Global Crisis through his paper titled “Has Financial Development Made the World Riskier?”

*Raghuram Rajan served as the Eric J. Gleacher Distinguished Service Professor of Finance at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business.

*Mr. Rajan also worked as the Bertil Daniellson Visiting Professor of Banking and Finance, Stockholm School of Economics, 1996-97; Visiting Professor of Finance, Northwestern University, 1996-97, and the Fischer Black Visiting Professor, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 2000-01.

*Mr. Rajan received the first Fischer Black Prize from the American Finance Association. This award is given every two years to the financial economist (under 40) who has made significant contribution to the theory and practice of finance.

*Raghuram Rajan authored Fault Lines: How Hidden Fractures Still Threaten the World Economy.

*He did electrical engineering from IIT-Delhi and pursued MBA from IIM, Ahmedabad in 1987. He also did his PHD in 1991 from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

*Raghuram Rajan was born in Bhopal on February 3, 1963. He’s married to his classmate Radhika from IIM. He has two children.
