Established in 1961, the National Institute of Technology Calicut is one of the oldest and most reputed engineering colleges in India. The institute offers admission to various undergraduate and postgraduate programs in engineering and related disciplines. Admission to these programs is based on the candidate's performance in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main.
The JEE Main 2022 cutoff marks for NIT Calicut will be released with the JEE Main 2022 Session 2 result. The cutoff marks are the minimum marks required to be eligible for admission to the institute. Candidates who score equal to or above the cutoff marks will be considered for admission.

Students need at least 75% marks in Class XII (65% for SC, ST, or PwD category candidates) or are within the Top 20 percentile of their examination board, and take the JEE Main exam to be eligible for admission to NIT Calicut courses. The admissions are done based on their JEE Main rank through JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) counselling. Special counselling rounds are conducted by CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board) if seats are left vacant after six rounds of JoSAA counselling.
For popular B.Tech streams like CSE in NIT Karnataka, home state candidates need at least 97 to 98 percentile, while other state candidates need to score above 98 percentile. Overall, home state candidates must have a 65+ percentile and other state candidates must have a 75+ percentile to get admitted to NIT Calicut.
The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Calicut is a deemed university and an institute of national importance. Its campus is located at Kundannoor near Mukkam on the outskirts of Kozhikode city in Kerala, India. The institute was formerly known as Calicut Regional Engineering College (CREC) and was established in 1961. It has been ranked amongst the top engineering colleges in India by various surveys and publications. It also offers excellent placements and has a good alumni network.
Generally speaking, 160 marks in JEE Main is roughly equivalent to 10000 - 15000 ranks in the General category. It is about 98.825 percentile. This score should be good enough to get you into most NITs and some good IIITs. However, it is always advisable to aim for a higher score.
While NIT Trichy ranks better than NIT Calicut in most surveys and gets better and bigger companies during placements, NIT Calicut is more famous for the CSE branch. JEE Main 2022 cutoff for NIT Calicut is also expected to be lower than NIT Trichy, offering a better chance of admission for students with lower scores. So it really depends on your preferences and what course you want to study as to which institute would be better for you.
